Katherine in the trunk

Romaji and English translation of the song Katherine in the trunk from the EP Gama by the GazettE.

Lyrics originally sung in English are in italics , and words or phrases I felt were implied are in [brackets] in the translation.

I also (usually) put repeats of chorus/verses/stanzas in [brackets] if they’re not written that way in the original lyrics for ease of singing along.

If he writes a word in the lyrics but doesn’t sing it, I put it in light grey to make it easier to skip when singing along.

I usually romajize katakana characters in CAPITALS, and keep punctuation and line spacing as close to the original booklet as possible. If you see me putting spaces before punctuation at the end of a sentence or writing things in mixed-case capitals, that’s because it’s how it was in the booklet.

Any comments I had during the romajization/translation process will be included as footnotes so as not to disturb the flow of the song. They’re not required reading, but Ruki does some pretty nifty things with his lyrics/kanji choices, or sometimes there’s further explanations about words or phrases in there.

Throughout, he uses あんた anta, a familiar form of “you.”
This is a metaphor – Katherine is dying in the singer’s arms. OK: so, when I initially translated the song, I assumed the singer was a guy and Katherine was his girlfriend and she committed suicide and he found her before she died. But apparently there was an interview in Fool’s Mate (that I cannot find a translation or scan of anywhere, so I cannot confirm) where Ruki said this was a lonely girl whose pet cat Katherine ran away and (I’m assuming) got hit by a car. IDK, take your pick, I guess.
居れば ireba can be translated as “lick, taste, experience, make fun of/make light of,” so this could be how I chose to translate it (again, with guy/girlfriend scenario in mind because I’m not rewriting the whole thing unless I can find that interview), or any one of those other actions. If it’s the girl/cat version, I’m gonna say “lick” would be the best option here.
I’m assuming Camel as in the brand of cigarette, as opposed to the desert-dwelling humped mammal…
So yeah, regardless of whether it was the guy/girlfriend or girl/cat scenario, it sounds like the singer put Katherine’s body in the trunk of the car and then committed suicide by driving off a cliff (or driving into a tree or something else car-related).
