CHIGIRE

Romaji and English translation of the song チギレ (CHIGIRE) from the special release CHIGIRE by the GazettE.

Translator's Notes
  • Lyrics originally sung in English are in italics in the translation.
  • Words or phrases I felt were implied are in [brackets].
  • I also (usually) put repeats of chorus/verses/stanzas in [brackets] if they’re not written that way in the original lyrics for ease of singing along.
  • Any comments I had during the romajization/translation process will be included as footnotes so as not to disturb the flow of the song. They’re not required reading, but Ruki does some pretty nifty things with his lyrics/kanji choices, or sometimes there’s further explanations about words or phrases in there.

Tear Me Apart: Translation

No one’s left     in a tomorrow turned upside-down     [I’m wrapped in] this skin of isolation
Since you     took everything away from me     then     please just kill me

What do [what do] you believe [you believe]? Do you doubt what I said [said]?
Just like that [just like that], the distorted sounds became clear
From this place [from this place] you can’t see [you can’t see] that violent Educatinal1 hut
What happens2 if their money [if their money] is taken away [taken away]?

Somebody somebody somebody somebody somebody
Please teach me the meaning of life
Somebody somebody somebody somebody somebody…
Because I’m the kind of person who thinks that we don’t really exist

Your voice is nowhere to be found     this wound festers     [I’m wrapped in] this neglected skin
So please don’t leave me;     I’m being consumed

[Somebody somebody somebody somebody somebody
Please teach me the meaning of life
Somebody somebody somebody somebody somebody…
Because I’m the kind of person who thinks
Somebody somebody somebody somebody somebody
Please teach me the meaning of life
Somebody somebody somebody somebody somebody…
Because I’m the kind of person who thinks that we don’t really exist]

Should I ask someone else for help?
Even I understand the     disadvantage of [involving] an outsider
These complaints can’t even be put into words
Should I still rely on you even as you betray me?
But even more than your heartless words,     I don’t need your sympathy

I had nothing,     living in agony,     remaining isolated
Now I cry out as I fall behind; slowly buried [alive] in this flower bed

No one’s left     in a tomorrow turned upside-down     [I’m wrapped in] this skin of isolation
Since you     took everything away from me     then     please just kill me

Translator’s Notes:

  1. I’m guessing this is supposed to be “educational”, but beyond that… The line makes me think of a not-so-nice place where some of life’s harsher realities were learned, but that’s just what I get from it; I don’t know if that’s what it’s actually referring to.
  2. The verb used is 植え付ける / uetsukeru which means “to plant,” so the sentence is literally “What is planted if their money is taken away.” I translated it with the feeling of “What would the result be…”
