Romaji and English translation of the song GUSH from the album NINTH by the GazettE.

Lyrics originally sung in English are in italics , and words or phrases I felt were implied are in [brackets] in the translation.

I also (usually) put repeats of chorus/verses/stanzas in [brackets] if they’re not written that way in the original lyrics for ease of singing along.

If he writes a word in the lyrics but doesn’t sing it, I put it in light grey to make it easier to skip when singing along.

I usually romajize katakana characters in CAPITALS, and keep punctuation and line spacing as close to the original booklet as possible. If you see me putting spaces before punctuation at the end of a sentence or writing things in mixed-case capitals, that’s because it’s how it was in the booklet.

Any comments I had during the romajization/translation process will be included as footnotes so as not to disturb the flow of the song. They’re not required reading, but Ruki does some pretty nifty things with his lyrics/kanji choices, or sometimes there’s further explanations about words or phrases in there.

He actually wrote 16:9 in the lyrics. This is the most common aspect ratio for widescreen TVs and computer monitors since 2009, as well as the international standard for broadcasting HD and widescreen analog TV. (Fun fact, the most common aspect ratio for mobile phone screens is the same, but flipped vertical – 9:16.)
I’d consider this to mean “You’re giving them everything they want and more” or something similar to that.
He’s good at judging exactly what the people want, and camouflaging himself to fit their demands.
Vogue means “now, state-of-the-art, ‘all the rage,’” etc.
I can’t for the life of me think of a better way to say this in a short sentence. Basically, the person is in a fake world that’s meant to look pretty, but it’s a thin disguise because if you look really closely and kind of squint a little, you can still tell they’re really standing in something sludgy and muddy and gross. (So reality is not as beautiful as the fake world he’s trying to sell to stay on top/remain popular.)
The song seems to be about someone in the entertainment industry, and how they have to keep up appearances and do what people expect of them (hence “widescreen puppet” – a puppet of the masses who appears onscreen in some fashion, be it musician or actor or whatever), and in return they’re lavished with praise and adoration. But the unvarnished reality is that the life they’re living is not nearly as pretty as it seems. But despite all the fake smiles and giving the people what they want, the singer says he still seems like a nice guy – even if the public happens to turn on him later.
