DISTRESS AND COMA

Romaji and English translation of the song DISTRESS AND COMA from the album DIM, the compilation album TRACES BEST OF 2005-2009, and the single DISTRESS AND COMA by the GazettE.

Translator's Notes
  • Lyrics originally sung in English are in italics , and words or phrases I felt were implied are in [brackets] in the translation.
  • I also (usually) put repeats of chorus/verses/stanzas in [brackets] if they’re not written that way in the original lyrics for ease of singing along.
  • If he writes a word in the lyrics but doesn’t sing it, I put it in light grey to make it easier to skip when singing along.
  • I usually romajize katakana characters in CAPITALS, and keep punctuation and line spacing as close to the original booklet as possible. If you see me putting spaces before punctuation at the end of a sentence or writing things in mixed-case capitals, that’s because it’s how it was in the booklet.
  • Any comments I had during the romajization/translation process will be included as footnotes so as not to disturb the flow of the song. They’re not required reading, but Ruki does some pretty nifty things with his lyrics/kanji choices, or sometimes there’s further explanations about words or phrases in there.

DISTRESS AND COMA: Translation

Until your distress sleeps… Fill me up with your grief…

Hello… dear my bride, what are you looking at?

You can’t pick up the butterflies scattered on the floor with your eyes alone

You want to forget your white-hot pain     but believe me when I say some wounds will never heal

Dance, dance, you dance even in your sleep     your tears are never-ending
Your voice is gone, so you cover your lips     with your trembling hand

Hello… dear my bride, your footsteps are like a trail of fire     the ringing in your ears becoming almost a necessity

The breath you unconsciously exhaled glides over your skin     and you smile as the blade hesitantly sways
You want to forget your white-hot pain     but believe me when I say some wounds will never heal

You can’t wake from this desolate dream that seems so real     even if it causes heartache
But if you let yourself answer truthfully     you like the pain

Don’t forget     that I was drawn to the “you” who feels pain
[So I’ll say] (good night)     here in this place
Dance, dance, you dance even in your sleep     your tears are never-ending
Every time you close off your heart with emptiness     you seem to wither a little more
In this desolate dream even your sadness     sings “one more time”
But if you let yourself answer truthfully     you like the pain

Until your distress sleeps… Fill me up with your grief…

In the dream that must someday end     a farewell blossoms
