Kawareta haru, kawarenu haru

Romaji and English translation of the song 飼育れた春、変われぬ春 (Kawareta haru, kawarenu haru) from the EP MADARA by the GazettE.
(This song title is often incorrectly romajized as Shiikureta haru, kawarenu haru.)

Lyrics originally sung in English are in italics , and words or phrases I felt were implied are in [brackets] in the translation.

I also (usually) put repeats of chorus/verses/stanzas in [brackets] if they’re not written that way in the original lyrics for ease of singing along.

If he writes a word in the lyrics but doesn’t sing it, I put it in light grey to make it easier to skip when singing along.

I usually romajize katakana characters in CAPITALS, and keep punctuation and line spacing as close to the original booklet as possible. If you see me putting spaces before punctuation at the end of a sentence or writing things in mixed-case capitals, that’s because it’s how it was in the booklet.

Any comments I had during the romajization/translation process will be included as footnotes so as not to disturb the flow of the song. They’re not required reading, but Ruki does some pretty nifty things with his lyrics/kanji choices, or sometimes there’s further explanations about words or phrases in there.

This note is included to show how to pronounce 来来 rairai, since it’s not a regular kanji compound, but it is not sung. I still included it because it’s part of the lyrics, but I didn’t put it in the translation.
While 春 haru is usually translated as “spring,” it can also mean “youth/sexuality” – combined with the rest of the song, it’s not referring to springtime. Incidentally haru is also part of a euphemism for prostitution. (More on that in the last note.) “Longing” in this case could be her longing to be free, or the longing of the men – reader’s choice.
He uses the kanji 来 rai twice in a row, which together is not a word; by itself rai means “future” – so doubled, she’s saying goodbye to her future in its entirety: both the future she currently has to look forward to (her fate), as well as the future she wishes she could have had (her future).
D’être is French for “to be” or “for living.” The whole phrase you usually see is raison d’être – “reason for living”, which his what I think this is short for. So basically since she feels she has no more reason for living (or that the only reason she’s alive is to be used by men), she’s happy to say goodbye.
助けて tasukete can be translated as many words meaning “help/rescue/save/spare/aid” – I translated it with different words each time since she keeps repeating the plea over and over.
I’ve read a bunch of thoughts on what this song means, and I’m agreeing with the ones who think that this girl has been basically forced into prostitution to fund her mother’s lifestyle. (While it’s not written in the lyrics so I didn’t include it in the translation, there’s a background kind of chorus thing sung that sounds like, “We’ve got to make, make more,” which kind of seems like it would go along with that.) She’s being expected to “repay” her for her life but since her mother is heartless (you’d have to be to force your own daughter into prostitution), she’ll never be satisfied.

They’re “bound to each other” because they’re family, but the daughter thinks she could be happy if only she could get away. She has no reason for living (or her reason for living is, rather, helping her mother profit by being forced to be abused by men), so she wants to die. And she asks forgiveness for wanting the somewhat dubious pleasure of dying first (since normally a girl would not precede her mother in death if things were to happen naturally).
